The National Parks: UX/UI

The National Parks Service had a website that was in need of an updated information hierarchy, as well as a more user-friendly design. For this project, user testing was utilized to find pain points on the National Park’s website. Each user tested 3 different pain points found on the website. These were recorded in user-flows and then assessed for improvements. After the problems were identified, the website was updated to have a better overall user experience.

The National Parks: magazine

With the updated website, we needed a way to drive more people to visit the site, and to promote the parks overall. A magazine was proposed to build awareness of the sheer number of parks, as well as the multitude of activities that can be enjoyed at the parks across the United States. A few of those spreads can be seen below. The overall theme was Find your park, Live your park, Love your park. This could be coupled with a social media strategy to generate user-content and interactions with the NPS brand. The National Parks have a solid and historical brand, and with these updates and publications it will continue to amaze for generations to come.
